Health & Safety Training Seminar
Over 50 delegates (promoters, administrators and senior officials) attended the Oval Racing Council's Health, Safety & Training Seminar in Northampton on Saturday 24 January. The persons in attendance covered a very wide spectrum across the short oval racing world. Many had travelled great distances to be there, with representatives from all corners of England, from Scotland and from Northern Ireland.
During the course of the day, there was an introduction from Philip Bond - ORC's Health & Safety Co-ordinator, a presentation from Environmental Health Officer Peter Ager of Fife Council and an interesting feature on crash helmet examination and identification by Neil Fitton of NFR.
Sue Sanders - ORC's Health & Safety Consultant, then outlined details of the proposed Training Scheme, which included a questionnaire about race procedures, which all persons in attendance were required to complete.
The Oval Racing Council's Health, Safety & Training Seminar reflects the continuing programme within short oval racing to embrace legislation and best practices.
