ORCi National Bangers Press Release

The ORCi Promoters met last month to conclude any rules changes for the 2011 season which included the subject of racing rules.

There is one significant change in terms of Racing Rules to be introduced for the 2011 Season.

All Promoters are extremely concerned with the increasing occurrences of contact on the infield and this will no longer be tolerated.

The 2011 rules state that any serious breaches of the safety area rule will automatically attract a THREE MONTH ORCi ban from racing.

The 2011 rules have now been published - all changes are printed in bold and italic print and also, if the rules are viewed electronically the changes are also noted in red.

There are a number of changes for 2011, so the ORCi urge all drivers to read the rules in full, very carefully.

Please note that the specification of the Distributor Guard in Issue 1 of the 2011 rules was inaccurate and has now been corrected in Issue 2 as follows.  The complete rule now reads as follows :

  • You may fit a distributor guard to the following specification but it is only permitted on engines with a front facing distributor, i.e. 'A' series engine or Toyota Crown.
  • The maximum size of the guard is 9" x 9", with a maximum thickness of ¼".  The plate may be bolted or braced using box iron, no bigger than 1" x 1" or welded TO THE ENGINE ONLY, I.E you CANNOT fit the guard to the sub-frame or gearbox.
  • Cars that fail post or pre-race scrutineering, found to be armoured or strengthened, including engine or gearbox suspensions mounts that are over the top will receive an immediate 12 month ORCi ban.  This also includes distributor and cam belt guards.
